Arden flies the flag for packaging sector during National Apprenticeship Week

The Arden Group is backing this year’s National Apprenticeship Week by encouraging more young people to consider a career in the packaging sector.

We’re promoting the benefits of manufacturing, engineering and technology careers within the sustainable packaging industry.

We’re currently recruiting for apprentices in a range of manufacturing disciplines within our Dies division, and would urge young people to think about the benefits of a career in packaging.

Martin Poynter, Managing Director of the Arden Group, said: “The packaging industry provides a promising career path, but there is perhaps a lack of awareness amongst young people today about the opportunities that are open to them in this sector.

“Nationally, there’s been a drive in recent years to promote the benefits of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects to young people and packaging is no exception.

“From mechanical engineering to software development, the packaging sector provides a wealth of opportunities for young people to build themselves a bright career within a booming industry.

“An apprenticeship is a fantastic way into this sector – you can gain valuable skills, experience and qualifications while still taking home a wage, so if any young people are planning their future career during this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, we’d urge them to consider packaging for their next move.”

National Apprenticeship Week runs from February 3 – 7, and the theme for this year’s event is ‘Look Beyond’ which encourages people to ‘look beyond’ the outdated stereotypes surrounding apprenticeships and raise awareness of the impact apprentices themselves have on an organisation.

Arden runs a successful apprenticeship programme, particularly within our die-making division, where apprentices learn everything they need to know about the die-making industry covering a range of disciplines including CAD, CNC machine tools and quality.

Apprentice Lewis Catchpole is one of Arden’s many success stories. Lewis, aged 19, joined us in 2017 and is now embarking on his Level Four qualification, which is a HNC in Mechanical Engineering.

Lewis said: “I’d highly recommend an apprenticeship with Arden. It’s provided me with the training, skills and support I need to succeed in my career, and I’m earning at the same time.

“For anyone thinking of going down the apprenticeship route I’d say go for it – it’s given me the best start to my career.”

The Arden Group, which comprises of Arden Dies, Arden Engraving and Arden Software, is a leading name in the packaging sector, and we specialise in the manufacture of dies and tooling solutions for the packaging, print, cartons, and label industries as well as CAD software for packaging design.
