Arden launches new rubber recycling project as part of commitment to green manufacturing
Posted on: Thursday, March 17th, 2022
The Arden Group is continuing our commitment to green manufacturing after launching a new rubber recycling initiative.
We’ve recently introduced a new eco-project in our Rubbering department to re-use off-cuts of rubber sheets that are generated during our die-making manufacturing process.
Sarah Poynter, operations manager at Arden Engraving, said: “We’re often asked by customers for rubber to carry out repairs and maintenance on their dies.
“Historically, we’ve supplied new rubber sheets, but as part of this new, green initiative, we’re re-using rubber off-cuts that are a bi-product of our manufacturing process and would normally end up being thrown away.
“The Arden Group is committed to being an environmentally conscious organisation and making whatever changes we can in order to minimise our impact on the environment, so we’re always looking for ways we can introduce more sustainable and eco-friendly practices in our operations.
“This new rubber recycling initiative is a win-win situation, as the customer can save money on the cost of rubber, while we can save money on waste removal and contribute to our environmental commitments.”
This Friday, March 18 is Global Recycling Day, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of recycling and this year celebrates #RecylingHeroes – the people, places and activities that showcase what an important role recycling plays in contributing to an environmentally stable planet and a greener future.
The rubber recycling initiative is the latest eco-friendly move by the Arden Group after we become the first die-making and engraving company in the UK to achieve a coveted accreditation in recognition of our eco-friendly operations.
In 2020 we became an ISO 14001 certified company – an international standard which recognises organisations that have a successful environmental management system in place.
Our other eco-friendly practices include:
🌎 Banning plastic packaging in all our external tooling shipments to customers
🌎 Removing all chemical processes from our production
🌎 The majority of products we produce across our die-making and engraving divisions are between 80-100% recyclable.
🌎 Monitoring our energy usage and switching to LED lighting
